• year is the year this table is for.
• basin is the oceanic basin this tables is for (i.e., "Atlantic hurricane"; see Category:Tropical cyclones by basin)

The overall way of constructing a tropical cyclones statistics table is given below. Unless explicitly indicated otherwise, the templates are used in the order in which they are given. The parameters for each template is described in its definition.

• Used when the storm has no landfalls.

• Used when the storm has at least one landfall.

• Used for a second landfall, and repeated for each subsequent landfall.
