Crewmen aboard USS Saratoga (CV-3) lift AOM Kenneth Bratton, USNR, out of a TBF Avenger's rear turret after a raid on Rabaul in November, 1943. The aircraft and a friendly F6F Hellcat successfully fought off eight attacking Zeroes, downing three. Bratton and pilot Commander Henry Caldwell survived. Photographer's Mate Paul Barnett was killed in action.
