[edit] Recent History

Over the years, Taylor Woodrow Construction has undertaken a number of landmark projects including airports, cathedrals, open - cast coal mining, football stadia, nuclear power stations, railway tunnels, roads, theme parks and wind farms. It has also built Tesco supermarkets since 1987.

Taylor Woodrow has also undertaken projects under the Private Finance Initiative including schools, and more recently, hospitals, until July 2007. It also provides facilities management and specialist engineering consultancy services.

Major projects completed by the company have included Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral completed in 1967[1], the Channel Tunnel completed in 1994[2], Amersham and Wycombe Hospitals completed in 2000[3], the redevelopment of the Royal Albert Hall completed in 2003[4], the Princess Royal University Hospital at Farnborough completed in 2003[5], the National Assembly for Wales at Cardiff Bay completed in 2006[6] and the King's Cross Western Ticketing Hall completed in 2006[7].

Another notable development by Taylor Woodrow is the Riverside Stadium on Teesside, which was built in 1995 as the stadium of Middlesbrough Football Club[8]. At the time it was the first new stadium for an English top division football club since Manchester City's Maine Road in 1923, and it proved so successful that over the next 11 years no less than six top division clubs have built new stadiums and a seventh club is in the early stages of following suit.
