[edit] Digital libraries
Hello Oleg. I saw that you contributed to articles about digital libraries and that yourself you had a list of links to Russian libraries publishing copyrighted content until recently.
I was wondering why there is no information of WP about those libraries, and was wondering if it had just not been added yet if there was some legal basis for not mentionning them (see my question in Talk:Digital library).
Maybe you can help me with that one? And if you know something about those Russian libraries, I'd love to read it! Thanks. --Valmi ✒ 23:05, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
- Aha. The question has finally arisen. ;) Ok, I'll try to explain my opinion.
- First of all, these libraries (aldebaran, fictionbook, fenzin, oldmaglib, moshkow -- at least) are very good, they are probably the best e-libraries with Russian books. For several years they were the only sources of the books I read. And that was enough for me. :)
- These libraries publish old books (possibly already non-copyrighted) and the new ones (possibly violating the copyright). Most of the books are in Russian, but you can find some English ones too.
- The owners of the libraries claims that they do not violate any laws since all the books are uploaded by visitors AND they (owners) are happy to delete any book if its proprietor wants so. In addition, copyright laws in Russia are in a bad :) state now, so these e-libs are on the law's edge.
- I'm rather a lazy and ignorant Wikipedian, and if my list of digital libraries breaks some Wikipedia rule, just delete it and tell me why, I will not complain.--Targi 06:47, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
