Talk:Tarikat

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Isn't "Tarikat" is the plural Arabic form of "Tarika" or modern English spelling "Tariqah"?

Is it that simple? If you search http://books.google.com Tarikat is actually used more commonly than Tariqah, even for books published recently. (Caniago (talk) 16:14, 18 February 2008 (UTC))

I think the meaning of the two words is the same, but if you think otherwise and are familiar with the terminology, then you might be correct. In any case, I think we need a Wikipedia user who is proficient in Arabic language and Islamic terminology to look into this.
