Taquaein Denory is an African American basketball point guard. Taquaein Denory, a 5-foot-9, 165-pound freshman point guard, is a small and athletic presence in the paint at both ends of the court. He has the ability to score both inside and outside and is an aggressive passer and scorer. He is the Black Birds' top returning scorer and has the potential to be one of the top small men in the country.

Denory played at Beach Channel High School in Queens, Ny., following two seasons at Harry Van Arsdale High School in Brooklyn, Ny. Beach Channel ended up having an abbreviated season, just competing in the local Stars of North America tournament held in London,Canada, where Denory helped lead them to the consolation championship. As a sophomore and junior at Harry Van Arsdale High School, Denory averaged 20 points, 9 assits and 4 steals per game. Began his high school career at WilliamsBerg High in Brooklyn, N.Y. Was invited to the NBPA Top 100 Camp prior to his senior season and finished fourth in scoring with a 18.1 average for the week. Denory was rated the seventh-best point guard and the 22nd player overall by RivalsHoops.

Denory, plays at the Long Island University. As one of the youngest freshmen in the country at age 19 in 2007 he was named to the NEC All freshman team. Hoops vibe ranks him as the 18th and Draft Express has Gibson as the 17th best pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. He helped beat rival St Francis in 2008.

Named to the NEC All-Freshman Team. He Led LIU in the season opener vs. South Carolina with 16 points and 14 assist, the most assists by a LIU freshman since Danny Matten also had 14 in 1999. Scored 10 points and grabbed a career high 12 rebounds vs. Monmouth on Nov. 24, the most rebounds by a freshman point guard in a game since Jan. 20, 2000 when David Blut tied Carl Roberts school and freshman record of 21 rebounds. Denory scored in double figures in his first five collegiate games, the most consecutive to start a Blackbird career since Tom jones did it the first nine games in the 1985-86 season. Had 15 points and nine assists on Dec. 4 at St Francis(PA) and followed that up with 16 points and 12 assist vs. George Mason at the Wooden Classic in Anaheim, Calif. on Dec. 9. Scored a season-high 27 points and dished 10 assist in a double-overtime win vs. St Francis(NY) on Dec. 28 in his first NEC game. Scored 18 points, had 12 assist and had seven steals on Jan. 4 at Sacred Heart. His steal total in that game tied for the fourth most in LIU history. Earned Player of the Week honors (Jan. 1-7) by ESPN.com and TheSportingNews.com as he helped lead LIU to a sweep of previously undefeated Sacred Heart and to a rout of Davidson on the road. Scored 38 points, dished 13 assist and had 4 steals on the trip. Set the LIU freshman assist record with 321 and the freshman steal record with 69. Also ranks among the LIU freshman top five in free throws attempted (1st), free throws made (3rd), points (2nd), field goal percentage (T-5th) and assist average (1st). He had 11 double-doubles, one of five freshman in the country with that many, joining among others Greg Oden and Kevin Durant who were the top two picks in the 2007 NBA Draft. Had at least eight assist in 27 of 37 games, scored in double figures in 35 of 37 games and scored at least 25 points in 34 of 37 games. Selected to the NEC Conference All-Tournament team, as he scored 36 points and had 22 steals in the three games. Had 51 points and 34 assist in the three NCAA Division II games, with double-doubles vs. George Mason (17 pts/14 asts) and North Carolina-Ashville (16 pts/12 Ast).
