New Fruit preserves article
The decision on the Jelly/Jam/Gelatin dessert merger was 5-1 for, so I merged the articles based on the summary I had posted on the discussion page. I think it looks good, if you have a chance could you take a look at it and make any suggestions or changes? Also please rate it as it needs a disinterested party to rate it (I am thinking a "B", bordering on "A", but I am just being boastful.) Also please take a look at the Gelatin dessert article, I think it needs a rewrite.

About your comments on my page about the Jelly article merger: the new article is deals exclusively with Pectin based preserves, while the Gelatin Desserts article concerns Gelatin based gels.

Just distracted
I've been distracted from cuisine history a tad by working on Vasa (ship), horse artillery and verbal bickering with the jackasses over at Swedish Wikipedia. That and the fact that I really like my summer job and my new playmate-of-the-summer. I'll try to take some time to read The Cambridge World History of Food as soon as I can. Unfortunately, the Stockholm University Library suffered watered damage because some lowlife scum turned on the taps on the floor above (for the second time this year, even). They had to close down for extensive repairs until August, and even if I can borrow books by appointment I can't browse their shelves, and the Cambridge food history is a reference book which can't be borrowed. As soon as I get proper access to the book and their reading areas I'll take some time to research and make some decent summaries for food.
However, I'm currently doing offline work on what will eventually turn up at naval rations and another li'l project that I hope will make a really whopper of a DYK.
