Tandur is located at [1]. It has an average elevation of 450 metres (1476 feet). Tandur town is 110 Kilo Metres far from Hyderabad which happens to be the capital city of Andhra Pradesh.

As of 2001 India census[2], Tandur had a population of 57,943. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Tandur has an average literacy rate of 60%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 67%, and female literacy is 52%. In Tandur, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Tandur is famous for its blue and black stone and toor daal that is and it has many rice millsŤ and well-known for Jowar. Major industries include gemstone exports and cement manufacturing. Two major cement firms are headquartered in Tandur - CCI (Cement Corporation of India) and VCIL (Vishaka Cement Industry Ltd).
A Sri Rama Temple is located at Juntpally, which is a Historic Temple and have some Historic Resemblances in and around the Premisis of the Temple complex, this Historic Temple is 12 kilometres away from Tandur.
River Kagna which is a sub river to River Krishna supplies the driniking water for more than 45 villages including Tandur Town, this River is 4 kilometres away from Tandur on the way to Kodangal.
A Rasoolpoor Hanuman Temple, which is famous now a days for all, located at 2 kilometres from Tandur.
Tandur had a fame in the Period of Nizam's, The Nizam Rulers has to come up to Tandur in the Passion of hunting and use to stay up to a month or so (Sources-Archives-Hyd).
A Center for Entertainment with almost 7 major theaters and few bakers
