Tampere Floral Festival is an annual summer festival organised in July-August. During the festival the centre of the city of Tampere in Southern Finland is decorated by flower arrangements and several events such as concerts, parades, ‘wine village’ and children’s day take place. The festival lasts approximately one week.
Tampere Floral Festival has been organised since 1984 by Tampere Tunnetuksi ry., an association established in 1965 to represent local companies. In addition to the Floral Festival the association also organises Tampere Illuminations and Tampere Christmas Season Opening.
Every year a “Floral Mayor” is elected from well-known Tampereans to take part in the promotion and opening of the festival. A pr-girl or a ‘Flower Girl’ is elected to promote the event and to participate in charity events.
In 2008 the Tampere Floral Festival is celebrated 25th of July – 2nd of August.
