Talyvel is a brand name for an instrument for setting horizontal lines, manufactured by Taylor Hobson, a UK corporation based in Leicester, England. This instrument consists of an induction transducer. A conductive pendulum is held between the two halves of the induction transducer. So whenever the instrument tilts the pendulum also tilts giving rise to an electric impulse. This impulse can be measured by a galvanometer and thus the amount of tilt can be known.
