Talala is a town in Rogers County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 270 at the 2000 census.

The Talala Post Office was established June 23, 1899. Talala was named for Captain John Talala of the 3rd Regiment, Indian Home Guard and a prominent Cherokee.

Talala is located at 36°31′45″N, 95°41′57″W (36.529050, -95.699292)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.8 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 270 people, 96 households, and 72 families residing in the town. The population density was 836.3 people per square mile (325.8/km²). There were 111 housing units at an average density of 343.8/sq mi (133.9/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 72.96% White, 0.37% African American, 19.63% Native American, 1.48% Asian, and 5.56% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.37% of the population.

There were 96 households out of which 45.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.4% were married couples living together, 10.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.0% were non-families. 24.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.81 and the average family size was 3.32.

In the town the population was spread out with 33.0% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 29.6% from 25 to 44, 20.4% from 45 to 64, and 8.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 101.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 103.4 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $40,938, and the median income for a family was $50,357. Males had a median income of $34,583 versus $23,750 for females. The per capita income for the town was $14,604. About 10.0% of families and 12.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 13.5% of those under the age of eighteen and none of those sixty five or over.
