[edit] Japanese scription

The most common scription for takoyaki in Japanese is たこ焼き.

This is just a quick comparison of the different versions and the googled results at the time of this writing:

  • たこ焼き 3,730,000
  • たこ焼 807,000
  • 蛸焼き 507
  • 蛸焼 753
  • 章魚焼き 1,030 - Most frequent pages found were direct copies of the previous edits of this article.
  • 章魚焼 129
  • 鮹焼き 21
  • 鮹焼 28

I conclude that the overwhelming representation of takoyaki in Japanese is たこ焼き and have therefore made it the first to appear. While たこ焼 is also relatively common, less than one fourth of all responses, the missing okurigana is the only difference and it seems pointless to include this scription in the article. The other previously listed option 章魚焼き was much less than 1% and therefore I see it highly unnecessary to include this in the article. Sudachi 10:13, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
