This image contains two excerpts, both two bars in length, from copyrighted music scores. Their inclusion is claimed as fair use because:

• they illustrate an educational article that includes a critical examination of the excerpt;
• they are small samples of limited resolution that could not be used as a substitute for the original score; and
• they are not replaceable with an uncopyrighted or freely copyrighted sample of comparable educational value.
