Miles "Tails" Prower is a fictional character in the Archie Comics Sonic the Hedgehog series. He is a member of the Freedom Fighters, the primary protagonist organization in the series.

Tails is the son Rosemary and Amadeus Prower. His family was scattered across the galaxy by Dr. Robotnik, and Tails ended up living in Knothole Village with Sonic the Hedgehog and the other Freedom Fighters.

Tails joins the Freedom Fighters once he comes of age, though despite his technical prowess he is kept from participating in the more dangerous missions because of his age. This inspiried him to embark on a solo adventure to the land of Downunda, a supposed parallel of Australia, to fight alongside their Freedom Fighters against Crocbot. During this time, Tails learns from Athair, great-grandfather of Knuckles the Echidna, that he is Chosen One, a being destined to bring about something known as The Great Harmony and become the greatest hero ever known.
Tails' main nemesis is the ancient and powerful Mammoth Mogul, whose desire is to prevent Tails from achieving his destiny. The two have battled on numerous occasions. After numerous schemes, Mogul eventually gains control of the power of the Chaos Emeralds, making him nigh-omnipotent and unstoppable. To defeat him, Tails merges with versions of himself from every other universe, though Mogul eventually returns.
During the battle against the artificial intelligence A.D.A.M., Tails and the other heroes send the thousands of Chaos Emeralds in the universe into the Zone of Silence, where they are merged into seven new Emeralds. When Tails and Sonic travel into the Zone to retrieve one of these seven, the being Feist gives them the gray one as thanks for sending the many Chaos Emeralds in the first place. The Chaos Emeralds had been limited and hidden in the newly-created Special Zone, in part fulfilling the prophesized "Great Harmony."
Several minor adventures follow this one, including Tail being reunited with his parents. This leads him into conflict with Sonic when the two find themselves on opposite sides of a schism in the Kingdom of Acorn, Tails supporting the side led by his father and Sonic remaining loyal to the House of Acorn. The two fight when Tails helps to break his mother out of jail. they reconcile with each other when Tails revealed that his main dispute with Sonic was over Fiona and Sonic's seeming dismissal of his feelings for her, which Sonic apologizes for.
After they return to Knothole to help with repairs on Freedom HQ, Tails, Mina Mongoose, and Mighty the Armadillo have post-hypnotic suggestions implanted in them by Mogul activated. The same programming fails to work on Sonic, so the three are sent to forcibly recruit him into Mogul's new Fearsome Foursome. When they fail to do so, Mogul has Tails fly into stratosphere, hoping to force Sonic to turn over the gray Chaos Emerald before Tails' loses consciousness and falls to his death. Sonic concedes, and Mogul frees Tails and the others before departing, deciding to wait for his opponents to die of old age before continuing his open campaign of world domination.

Tails is one of several characters featured in Mobius: 25 Years Later. In the first version of this possible future, he marries Mina Mongoose and has two children. For some reason, Sonic is not on speaking terms with Tails in this future.
Despite not being among the team working to correct the cataclysm threatening Mobius, Tails suspects that something is wrong and manages to protect himself and his family from the resulting changes in the timeline crated by the conflict. Tails gets answers from Knuckles' daughter, Lara-Su, who also retained her memories of the original timeline. They manage to find Sonic and join in the final battle against Shadow and his Dark Legion minions.

As is the case with several characters, Tails has all the same abilities in the comics as he does in the games. Through various methods, he has been seen transforming into several super forms, namely Turbo Tails, Hyper Tails, and Titan Tails (every version of himself in the multiverse combined). Following the move to New Mobotropolis, he has apparently been taking lessons in combat from Knuckles.
