Tai Dom people are people of present day North Vietnam, which was known as Tai-Dom before the French colonized it. Many of the Tai Dom people, after the colonization, were forced to flee Tai Dom to other countries. Many fled to Laos, because it had many of the same types of languages and culture that Tai Dom had.
