Syracuse University School of Architecture
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The School of Architecture at Syracuse University (or Syracuse Architecture, as it is now styling itself) is a private institution offering bachelor's and master's degrees in architecture that are accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). Both undergraduate and graduate programs consistently rank among the best in the country (B.Arch - #3, Design Intelligence 2007). SUSOA, established in 1873, is the fourth oldest architecture program in the country.
The school has long been housed in Slocum Hall on the university's main campus, but in January 2006 the School of Architecture moved to a temporary home in a converted warehouse in downtown Syracuse so that Slocum Hall could undergo massive renovations. The move was overseen by the school's current dean, Mark Robbins. Fittingly called "The Warehouse", the renovation was designed by Gluckman Mayner Architects of New York City and will be used for future education initiatives by the university once the School of Architecture returns to the main campus in 2008.
