Syed A. Hoda

Syed A. Hoda is a Professor of Pathology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University and an Attending pathologist at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Hoda is a diagnostic surgical pathologist and has a particular interest in breast pathology.

Dr. Hoda trained in anatomical and clinical pathology at Tulane University Affiliated Hospitals in New Orleans, Louisiana (1985-1990) under Drs. Richard Reed and Michael Gerber. Subsequently, he underwent fellowship training in cytopathology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City (1990-91) with Drs. Hajdu and Melamed; and another year of fellowship training in oncological surgical pathology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center with Drs. Rosai, Rosen and Lieberman.

Dr. Hoda has been associated with Cornell Medical College (now Weill Medical College of Cornell University) and The New York Hospital (now New York Presbyterian Hospital) since 1992.

Dr. Hoda has contributed over 100 scientific publications, and has co-authored Breast Pathology, Diagnosis by Needle Core Biopsy with Dr. Paul P. Rosen and The Pap Test with Dr. Rana Hoda. Dr. Hoda is active on the regional, national and international lecture circuit. He has lectured at various pathology, medical oncology and surgery groups and forums; conducted short courses at various ASCP, CAP, IAP and USCAP meetings; and participated in educational meetings in several countries including Canada, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand and Thailand. He has been featured in New York Magazine as one of New York's Best Doctors consecutively for the past four years (2005-2008)[1].

Dr. Hoda's spouse, Rana, is a cytopathologist at University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York. Raza Hoda, their son, is a sophomore in the College of Arts & Sciences at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
