The Sydney Packet was built in Sydney, Australia in 1826 [1] for Alexander Brodie Spark (1792-1856)[2] She was a two-masted schooner of 84 tons. Her captain was James Bruce. After participating in the rescue of the Elizabeth and Mary in 1831, she was purchased by John Jones, and outfitted as a bay whaler. She was wrecked at Moeraki, Otago, July 17, 1837.[3]
