Sydney is an Australian city located on the shores of Port Jackson, commonly known as Sydney Harbour in the Australian state of New South Wales. It is Australia's most populated city, with little over 4 million inhabitants. Sydney is a global city, exerting significant regional, national, and international influence, and is one of the world's most multicultural and ethnically diverse cities. It is Australia's financial centre and economic engine, as well as one of the country's most important cultural, entertainment and health sciences centres. It hosted the 2000 Summer Olympic Games and is home to the iconic Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge
