Sycan River
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Sycan River is a tributary of the Sprague River, approximately 50 mi (80 km) long, in southwestern Oregon in the United States. The headwaters are in the Sycan Marsh, a vast wetlands and Nature Conservancy preserve within the Fremont National Forest in southern Lake County, approximately 40 mi (64 km) northwest of Lakeview. Numerous creeks and springs gather in the marsh and exit to the south making a rapid descent through a rugged canyon in an arid volcanic plateau known as "The Tablelands" east of the Cascade Range. where it joins the Sprague River from the north at Beatty, approximately 30 mi (48 km) northeast of Klamath Falls.
The """ Sycan River""" headwaters are really above the Sycan Marsh. Near the top of Winter Rim where the South Fork of North Creek and School Creek come together is where the Sycan River truly starts. Rock Creek and several others empty into the river before both Paridise Creek and Skull Creek come together with the river at Pikes Crossing. The Sycan then starts into a steep canyon where Emigrant Crossing is located. The canyon ends where the Sycan Marsh starts. It then travels thru "The Tablelands".
