I am trying to verify the genuine start date for the Swimathon event. Altho the source that I have referenced quotes 1988, I have seen other articles that mention 1986. However, they also talk about this being the 22nd event (when, of course, 1986-2008 would actually make this the 23rd event - but it's a common error). I also remember that the first time I swam it was sponsored by Penguin (the chocolate biscuits) before BT. I have a suspicion that the first event in 1986 was just held in London (and was possibly the LBC Swimathon). If anyone has any useful data, please let me know. tc847 17:50, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
