Max B. Swisher Skyhaven Airport is a small public airport run by the University of Central Missouri. Donated in 1966 by Max B. Swisher, inventor and owner of the Swisher Mower and Machine Company, University of Central Missouri’s airport is the only such facility owned and operated by a Missouri public university. Located three miles west of Warrensburg on U.S. Highway 50, it currently boasts two lighted and paved runways, an aircraft parking apron, a flight center, hangars, and a classroom building. The airport serves the University in many ways, all while acting as a public airport for the Warrensburg and Kansas City metro area. Skyhaven airport is very close to Whiteman Air Force Base, and is located about 60 minutes from the downtown area of Kansas City.
