Talk:Sweet Beulah Land

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This hymn was around long before 1973. Perhaps the date should be 1873 not 1973. This one needs to be checked out.

No, this may well be a 1973 job. The one you're thinking of is probably Edgar Stites' Beulah Land, 1876 according to a quote from the author on the Cyber Hymnal page linked. I really doubt that this Squire Parsons number rises to the level of needing its own Wikipedia article, but I'm not going to suggest canning it. I will, however, replace its link in the list of Well-known_hymnists_and_hymns with the Stites piece, which is far better known and arguably merits listing there. Incidentally, CyberHymnal.org has at least four other hymns with "Beulah Land" in their titles or incipits: I Have Entered Beulah Land, Dwelling in Beulah Land, I’ve Pitched My Tent in Beulah and Is Not This the Land of Beulah?
