[edit] Summary
an 18th century illustration of Captain Francis Spriggs and his crew forcing a captive Portuguese sailor through "the sweats" or a gauntlet for the crew's amusement, as appearing in the article Too Great a Cruelty: ARCHAEOLOGY's Top Ten Vicious Pirate Acts at [1]. I believe the photo, published prior to 1923, falls under fair use as a historically significant photo of a famous individual and used for informational purposes.
