Swami Atmavidyananda is a Swami of the Ramakrishna Order of India. He joined the order in 1978 and took final vows in 1990. Currently he is the treasurer of the Vedanta Society of Southern California. He also serves as the organist-choir director-composer[1].
He was born in 1949 in Los Angeles and given the name Bill Scott[2]. He attended Occidental College where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Mathematics, and Stanford University where he earned his MA degree in Education{{{author}}}, {{{title}}}, [[{{{publisher}}}]], [[{{{date}}}]]..
He currently serving as president of the Sidewalk Astronomers[3].
In addition to being the treasurer, general office manager, and occasional lecturer for the Vedanta Society of Southern California, he gives talks to school and church groups, conducts classes on The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda, and has both lectured and organized seminars about the relationship of various subjects to Vedanta Philosophy.
Swami Atmavidyananda currently serves as president of the University Religious Conference at UCLA[4]. He was the Baccalaureate speaker at Occidental College in 2006. He has spoken for many classes, conferences and interfaith panels at California University, Long Beach[5]; the Church of St. Thomas, Lancaster[6];, UCLA Hindu Student Conference[7], Amidhiya Movement in Islam Founders Day, Chino; Gay and Lesbian center, Los Angeles; Regional Religion Communicators Conference, Los Angeles; and AHIMSA’s conference on Spiritual Music and Sound, Berkeley, Occidental College World Sacred Music Festival, Yale University[8], USC, Mt. Sac Community College, and numerous high schools. Currently he is co-director of the Hindu Students Organization at USC[9].
