Suzanne van Veen

Suzanne van Veen (born October 3, 1987 in Naaldwijk) is a Dutch professional racing cyclist.[1] Van Veen signed her first professional contract in 2005 when she became part of the Buitenpoort-Flexpoint Team.[2] Currently she still rides for the same team, although the name changed in 2007 to Team Flexpoint.[2]
Her first professional success came in 2006 when she took part in the Dutch national track championships in Alkmaar and finished in second position in the scratch race, just behind Adrie Visser.[3] During the Six-days of Rotterdam, a male event Van Veen participated in a women's race behind the derny. Together with her pacemaker Joop Zijlaard Van Veen placed an attack with 17 laps to go to claim the win and double the rest of the competitors.[4]
A year later she took part in the AA Drink Four-days of Rotterdam, a newly created event for women alike to Six-day racing. Van Veen entered the competition alongside Elise van Hage. They fought themselves to several top-three rankings and managed to win the scratch race on the third day of competition.[5] Eventually they ended up in the third position overall.[6]
