Sutton Parks Constabulary
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sutton Parks Constabulary is a small, specialised constabularly responsible for policing the parks and open spaces of the London Borough of Sutton.
Members of the constabularly are sworn as constables under section 18, Ministry of Housing and Local Government Provision Order Confirmation (Greater London Parks and Open Spaces) Act 1967. Such constables have the powers of a constable to deal with by-laws relating to parks and open spaces under their control. Such constables have no powers over and above that of an ordinary citizen to deal with criminal law and should not be confused with police officers.
Due to its small size, policing is also carried out in the parks of the borough by the Metropolitan Police Service. It should also be noted that any serious or major incidents or crimes would automatically become the responsibility of the Metropolitan Police Service.
