Hi, SurtrPtah.

I saw your new article Quadratic primes. Thank you for writing it. Unfortunately, I don't think it's true. The polynomial x2 − x + 41 was known to Euler, so it's nothing new. According to this page the polynomial 36x2 − 810x + 2743 generates 45 consecutive prime numbers, five more than the 40 that Euler's polynomial gives.

Do you want to correct the error? Or shall I? DavidCBryant 02:08, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello, and also a warm welcome from me. I happened to stumble across the same page and I wondered where you got the name quadratic prime from. Is it in any publication, or did you make it up yourself? In the latter case, I'd prefer to rename the article to "prime-producing quadratics", which is the title of an article in the American Mathematical Monthly [1]. If you're interested, try to read the article. Additionally, you may be interested in formula for primes; the article quadratic primes should probably link to that. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 03:59, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
