[edit] History

I edited the sentence in the History section that previously stated "Some temple ruins are all that remain from this period" (the Khmer Empire Period). A very important cultural and linguistic remnant from this period is the people themselves. The sizable Khmer population of Surin Province is also remnants from this period. I changed the sentence to read "Scattered temple ruins and a large ethnic Khmer population are remnants from this period." I'm still not happy with the wording but I'm really liking this article so far and didn't want to change the feel of it too much. Any comments or suggestions?--WilliamThweatt 02:01, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

My only quibble is that as far as I know the Khmer population was there before the Khmer empire, so they're not really remnants of the period. Markyour words 12:05, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
Excellent point. As I said, I still wasn't happy with the wording...now even less so. I don't have time now but I will try to fix it later this evening if somebody doesn't do it first. --WilliamThweatt 15:01, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
I was born in this province, Surin, of Thailand. I've always identified my Hometown as Thailand because I didn't even know that this province Surin still exsisted. But with the advance technology of the internet (Wikipedia), I actually learned something profoundly new about my birth place...How exciting is that! I just wanted to share my thoughts....now I plan of visiting my Province birthplace of Surin, Thailand. (User: Cindy Ith) October 11, 2006.
