Are we sure that the British entered India through Surat? Is there any confirmation of this fact?

the british entered india through surat as that was the only harbour on the west coast....do remember, bombay was not found until a hundered years later or so. The first trading post was established at Surat. Its true!

To build up such a vast kingdom independently and to rule it with an army and a navy, Shivaji needed lots of money. Where could he hope to obtain so much wealth for the purpose? He decided to extract this money from Aurangzeb himself who was enjoying the wealth of this country.

surat experienced a very destructive flood recently. ( Aug 9-10-11) most of the people ( and i) and news paper belive that flood was due to carelessness of ukai dam authority ( not official). experts belive atleast 500 people have been died and approx. damage is of 5000 cror to surat industry. however this numbers are not official
