Surrender Monkey (Brad Bentley) is a character from Peter Milligan's X-Statix. He was introduced as a supervillain of French descent. His super power is described as the ability to "quit at just the right time". He wears a gorilla mask and stereotypical French clothing.

[edit] Fictional Character Biography

Surrender Monkey is in reality, rogue CIA agent Brad Bentley. In the build-up to the Iraq War, his job was to 'harden US attitudes against the old world, France in paticular'. Brad then went native, falling in love with the French wine, French culture, food and wide acceptance of nudity.

He later became part of a group of European based mutants hired by 'Dicky' and 'Reggie' to kill the back-from-the-dead music star Henrietta Hunter. He joins a team called 'Euro-Trash'. The battle does not go well and Euro-Trash retreats to an X-Statix merchandise store. They are followed by the team and Surrender Monkey is seemingly killed by a broken neck. He somehow survives his injuries.

[edit] Church of the Naked Truth

Surrender Monkey then travels to the Church of the Naked Truth which is based in a small medevial castle in the south of France. Parts of Doop's brain, one of two he has, had been lost all across the world. One bit is in control of the Church, which is being manipulated by Surrender Monkey. He uses promises of money and the forbidden lure of clothing in an attempt to have the brain piece handed over.

The heroes known as Iron Man and Mister Sensitive had also tracked down the brain-piece. The church leader convinces them that he would only discuss the matter to one who was naked. They strip but end up fighting anyway.

The church leader and Surrender Monkey are both discovered clothed. The church members, angered, drag them out into the grass outside and remove their clothing. In exchange for protection from the mob, Surrender Monkey and the church leader hand over the piece of brain.

It is unclear what happens to Surrender Monkey after this point.
