A supporting character is a character of a book, play, video game, movie, TV show or other form of storytelling usually used only to give dimension to a main character, by adding a relationship with this character. Sometimes supporting characters may develop a complexity of their own. These characters may not seem very important, but usually you would notice it if you were to, say, watch a movie again, and they were not there. Usually the change would be drastic.
