[edit] County question

What county is Sunset Park in? Pacian 22:04, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
County? It's in Brooklyn (per the title of the article), which is of course coterminous with Kings County.--Pharos 02:28, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
Isn't some of Brooklyn in Queens County? And don't be so tart in your reply: I *LIVE* in Sunset Park, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what County this is.Pacian 23:02, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
All of Brooklyn is Kings County. I think you may be thinking of The Rockaways, which is off of the southern coast of Brooklyn but is actually connected and part of Queens. --Howrealisreal 23:46, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
This is correct; Kings County is Brooklyn and little more, and Queens County is Queens. One little qualm: While the Rockaways are part of Queens, the peninsula is not geographically connected to Queens, but rather to Nassau County. —Larry V (talk) 04:29, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
Sorry to be quick, Pacian. Just remember Brooklyn = King County, for all practical purposes. The borders are exactly the same, it's basically just that, governmentally, "Brooklyn" is used for city matters, and "Kings County" for state matters. Brooklyn effectively has no county government, though, so the only thing under "Kings County" is the courts.--Pharos 06:16, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
Apology accepted. I asked specifically because I have to approach the courts about obtaining a DBA license, and I didn't know which county clerk to contact! Your help is most appreciated. Pacian 20:43, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 8th Ave pictures

The photos illustrate how difficult it is to take a good outdoors picture facing south. Recommend that the one that mostly shows buildings in shadow not be used. Jim.henderson 20:45, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

We need some newer pictures of 8th Avenue. Some of those pics are of restaurants that no longer exist. I will submit some new ones since I happen to live on 8th Avenue. BTW, I added a "Recent History" section as I couldn't find a way to mention the recent tornado that passed through my neighborhood. --66.114.67.117 08:05, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, the history arrangement isn't quite kosher. Anyway, please do not get rid of pictures because they are old. Old is good; we want to see the past, except in pictures that are actually bad. Do not add new pictures because they are new. Add them if they are better pictures: straighter, lighter, clearer, neater, more precisely illustrative. The dragon dancer pictures present something of a quandary, being beautiful but not evocative of place. Jim.henderson 08:23, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Location

The description of Sunset Park's boundaries appears substantially overstated as of summer, 2007. As usually understood, Sunset Park is bordered by neighborhoods of Park Slope to the north, Flatbush and Borough Park to the east, and Bay Ridge to the south. Few people would think of it as including the Red Hook waterfront neighborhood.

[edit] History of Row Houses including 552-49th Street in Sunset Park, Brooklyn

I lived at 552-49th street from 1957-1962. Would love to know the history of these quaint rowhouses; i.e.; when built, who lived there, any other pertinent history. Any clues where I can find this info? - --Mzcarol24@hotmail.com
