Sunset Marquis Hotel
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Sunset Marquis is a luxury hotel in Hollywood, California known as a favorite in the music industry. The hotel installed a recording studio in the basement to attract entertainers.[1]
Courtney Love's memoir includes a letter, on hotel letterhead, written to Kurt Cobain and her daughter. Love named a song after the Sunset Marquis,[2] and she reportedly wrote another song, "How Dirty Girls Get Clean", on Marquis notepaper.[3] Both songs are slated to appear on Love's second album.
[edit] Bar
The bar at the Sunset Marquis is known as a hangout for models and celebrities.[4] Now called "Bar 1200",[5] it was formerly called the "Whiskey Bar". It is located off The Sunset Marquis Hotel's lobby, and only musicians and hotel guests can get in. U2, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones and Eminem have been regulars.[1]
