Sumerian Creation Myth

Myth of the Ages

Before there was form or light,

chaos and order were the same.

Before the dawn or the night,

before Goddess or God had names,

Anki was the void and lore,

the All and Naught inclusive.

Alone was It, longing for more,

the change would be intrusive.

The change came as division,

two from one , they were torn.

Female and male the revision,

a universe was to be born.

A universe was to be grown.

From Anki came the God, An, the Goddess, Ki, and the formless Sea, Nammu. These male, female and neuter genders were the progenitors of all that is.
