[edit] Why is the Sulphur lamp promoted for plant growth?

Could somebody please elaborate if using a broadband light source is really efficient to foster plant growth? Don't plants grow best when stimulated with a select few narrow bands of light within the (near)visible spectrum [citation needed]. If this is correct wouldn't there be better alternative light sources (e.g. suitably designed LEDs) that emit most of their light in those bands? 23:50, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
