I am very sorry but whoever decided that this page was not my copyright is wrong. I wrote this material from a source by Francis Thomson in 1995!

It was not written by Finlay MacLeod as Culture Hebrides has it. --Scotthatton 14:00, 15 August 2005 (UTC)

I flagged this is as possible copyvio because that's exactly what it looked like. I accept your claim of copyright as I have a copy of the Thompson book an reconise the unconventional one word spelling of the name.--JBellis 20:00, 16 August 2005 (UTC)

Claim of authorship followed up, awaiting response. --Ngb ?!? 18:36, 1 September 2005 (UTC)
No response from copyright holder, deleting. --Ngb ?!? 17:05, 8 September 2005 (UTC)
Response now received from Culture Hebrides. They acknowledge that the article on their site was wrongly attributed and I am therefore reinstating the previously deleted material. --Ngb ?!? 10:35, 16 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sgeir an Teampall

Surely this should be "Sgeir an Teampaill"? Seeing, as "teampall" is a first declension masculine noun in the genitive case? An Muimhneach Machnamhach (talk) 13:07, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

There is a map here, but I can't read it clearly enough to be sure either way. I'd guess it is Teampall - I fear the Ordnance Survey are fairly cavalier in this regard. Ben MacDuiTalk/Walk 13:50, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Yes, it's very hard to make out the spelling from this particular map. I printed it out, but that's no help either. It has obviously been scanned in. The British Ordinance Survey's online map engine is normally an excellent resource for looking up maps down to 1:25,000 scale. Alas, Sula Sgeir isn't shown at all on the search engine. Either way, it is most likely that Sgeir an Teampall without the i is a mistake. I'll have a look at Francis Thompson's book tonight and see what he has. I've just checked this link here http://www.snh.gov.uk/pdfs/publications/designatedareas/Rona%20and%20Sula%20Sgeir.pdf which shows the same map but if you zoom in on the section showing a map of Sula Sgeir, you can see quite clearly that it is in fact "Sgeir an Teampaill" with the "i" as I suspected. I have therefore changed it to "Teampaill" in the text. An Muimhneach Machnamhach (talk) 16:30, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
