Suhas Patankar

Suhas V. Patankar (b. February 22nd 1941) is an Indian engineer and pioneer in the field of computational fluid dynamics (CFD). He is currently an emeritus professor at the University of Minnesota. He is also president of Innovative Research, Inc.
In 1962 Patankar received a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Pune, and two years later a Masters of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India. In 1967 he was awarded a Ph.D from the University of London.
Patankar's most important contribution to science is the book Numerical Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow (ISBN 0-89116-522-3), first published in 1980. This book has since been considered one of the groundbreaking contributions to computational fluid dynamics.
Patankar was born in Pune, India.
