[edit] Fair use for B movies (The exploitation boom)
This image is being linked here; though the picture is subject to copyright I (DCGeist) believe it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
- it is a low-resolution copy of a movie poster;
- it does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell the film or poster in any way;
- copies could not be used to make illegal copies of the artwork on another poster; and
- the image adds significantly to the article because it illustrates (a) a significant and representative B movie of the blaxploitation genre, incorporating of elements of several other B-movie exploitation genres as discussed in the accompanying text and (b) the marketing of such movies during the historical period in question as discussed in the accompanying text
[edit] Fair use for Sugar Hill (1974 film)
- This image illustrates how the film Piranha was promoted during its original US theatrical distribution.
- It is of much lower resolution than the original (copies made from it will be of very inferior quality).
- It does not limit the copyright owner's rights to market or sell the work in any way.
- This image is used on various websites, so its use on Wikipedia does not make it significantly more accessible or visible than it already is.
- The image is being used in an informative way and should not detract from the original work.
- No free or public domain images have been located for this item.
[edit] Licensing
This image is of a poster, and the copyright for it is most likely owned by either the publisher or the creator of the work depicted. It is believed that the use of scaled-down, low-resolution images of posters
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content for more information. |
