Elections to Suffolk Council will take place on 11 June 2009. On the same day elections to the European Parliament will take place and it is possible that the next General Election could be held as well. If so this would increase the turnout.
The incumbent Conservative administration will seek a second term in office having defeated Labour in the Suffolk Council election, 2005. Labour will hope to regain control of the council.
In 2005 the Conservatives won 42 seats, Labour 22, Liberal Democrats 7 and 1 Independent won a seat.
