[edit] History
Ştefan cel Mare Airport opened in 1932 as Suceava Airport. Commercial services started in 1960, with TAROM and in 1963 the runway was paved. Services by TAROM continued until 2001, however, were resumed in 2004. During this period, the airport was served by Angel Airlines. In March 2005 airport was renamed "Ştefan cel Mare" after Stephen the Great and was opened to international traffic for the first time.
There are current plans to extend the runway to 3400 m, whilst widening it to 100 m,. If the project goes through, the works should start in September of 2008 or in the spring of 2009.
[edit] City Access
There is a road linking the airport to DN29, the main road between Suceava and Botoşani.
Buses to Suceava are provided, along with taxis, at the time of arrival.
