I have written a small article here to replace the one line page that was previously here, but some things could be said better and it could also be expanded to give graphical examples of certain concepts. However I don't have examples immediately available for these things, I could reference other sites diagrams using fair use and will try to do that soon.

I have also not given references for this article, most of the information came from Cisco training material which I am not quite sure how to cite, perhaps i can just give the title of the material, however it is not public content and can't be accessed without a Cisco account. I believe this same information is available in the Cisco books that are available for CCNA and CCNP certifications, which would be a definite and singular source. I will try to reference things soon, but in the mean time if necessary I can find examples for the information I have given and I stand by it.
