Stuart Dougal

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stuart Dougal (born November 6, 1962) is a Scottish football referee[1] who is on the FIFA international list.[2] He refereed the 2004 Scottish Cup Final between Celtic and Dunfermline Athletic, and has been appointed to the 2008 final between Rangers and Queen of the South.[3]

Controversies

In March 2004 Dougal was fined £200 by the Scottish Football Association for using foul and abusive language towards Christian Nerlinger of Rangers.[4]

His controversial[5] dismissal[6] of a Hungarian player (Zoltán Gera) in a 2008 UEFA Euro 2008 qualifying match against Turkey brought him media attention again. This happened less than two months before his 45th birthday, the age limit for refereeing international matches.[7]
