I thought that the word stringer came from the fact that jornalists sent their news by telephone or telegraphic wire. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.34.192.237 (talk) 22:33, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

There is no such thing as a "stringer" in law enforcement. The stringers mentioned on the police video show were working as journalists. They shouldn't be confused with citizen rats that shoot video and snitch people out to the police.
