[edit] Mummers Parade

The "string bands" in the annual Mummers Parade in Philadelphia are very very different from the old-time Appalachian string bands that this article describes. The Mummers Parade string bands include saxophones, clarinets, accordions, drums, and glockespiels, and rarely have mandolins or guitars. The mention of the Mummers Parade string bands in this article implies that they are old-time Appalachian string bands. They are not. Not even close. They are a distinctive part of the Mummers Parade, and except for the name "string band" and the presence of string basses and violins, there is no resemblance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.156.135.247 (talk) 16:44, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
