Talk:Streoneshalh

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm putting some suggestions here that I hope will make this article more likely to be acceptable. I think there is good information here and it should probably be kept, but the corrent format is letting the article down.

  1. The article needs to be given context. The average reader will not know what the word means, so it should be explained before starting on an explanation of its origin.
  2. We need to be sure that this article reflects the current mainstream thinking about the word, not a new or minority opinion.
  3. Question and answer (Who was Streona?) is probably not appropriate for an encyclopedia.
  4. Instead of giving a detailed historical context, only give absolutely necessary background and a separate article created with information about e.g. Viking invasions, with a link to it. It may be that this information already exists in another article. This article should focus very tightly on the word being discussed.
  5. More links would really improve the article.

Thanks, and happy editing. DJ Clayworth 20:13, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Edits

I'm pulling out my red pen because the promised cleanup has never materialized after this article survived AfD. This will probably bust it back to a stub, but at least there will be a solid foundation to start from. I'm removing all of the original research.--Isotope23 19:38, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Whitby Abbey

At some stage there will need to be consideration of the relationship with the Whitby Abbey article.--Henrygb 10:24, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
