The quote "The Duke abandoned these plans in 1821 when they proved to be too expensive, and subsequently made numerous additions and improvements to the existing building." puzzles me as I've seen it stated that he abandoned it because his wife Kitty didn't like/want the house changed rather than the cost of a reasonable rebuild which was certainly well within his means Alci12 17:13, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
