The String Orchestra of Brooklyn is a semi-professional chamber group directed by Eli Spindel, alumnus of Vassar College.
The SOB was formed in the Summer of 2007 with the idea of providing a musical community for the many talented and beautiful non-professional classical musicians living in and around Brooklyn, NY. Members of the SOB are students, professors, architects, lawyers, executives, editors, designers, and artists. While specializing in the diverse string orchestra repertoire, the SOB is also able, through collaboration, to tackle works from many genres and periods. The group plans to work with contemporary composers, and will present a concert in the Spring of 2008 dedicated to the work of young American composers working in the United States.
The SOB does not hold auditions. Rather, NYC area musicians are encouraged to contact the orchestra director via the website at [www.thesob.org]
