Strawberry box houses was a style of home building in the 1950s and 1960s in the Toronto area.
This was a departure from the style used in the past, Georgian, Victorian, Reivial, etc...
This design was based on a square foundation and look simnilar to boxes used to hold strawberries.
The house style was either a detached bungalow or a two-storey semi-detached.
The style is found throughout North York, Ontario, south Scarborough, Ontario (south of Highway 401 (Ontario)) and north Etobicoke, Ontario (north of Highway 401 (Ontario)).
The facade of this style was mainly brick with entrances at the front and sides.
