Strathclyde Law School

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Strathclyde Law School was established in 1964 and operates within the faculty of Law, Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Strathclyde, in Glasgow, Scotland.
The Law School has recently moved to new accommodation in the Lord Hope Building (named after David Hope, Baron Hope of Craighead). The new premises were officially opened by the Lord Advocate Elish Angiolini QC in February 2007.

Postgraduate courses, including the Diploma in Legal Practice, are available from the Glasgow Graduate School of Law (GGSL). The GGSL is a joint collaboration of the University of Strathclyde and Glasgow University. The GGSL is based on the University of Strathclyde John Anderson campus in the Lord Hope Building.

Professor Kenneth Norrie was awarded Scottish Law Lecturer of the Year 2007 at the Law Awards of Scotland. The Law Clinic offers free legal advice and help to patrons of Glasgow and the surrounding area who cannot afford a solicitor or do not qualify for legal aid. Dealing with mainly Employment and Small Claims issues, the Clinic has branched out in recent years into Planning, Environmental, and Landlord and Tenant areas of law, helping a vast amount of clientele along the way.

The current Law Clinic offices are located on Level 3 of the Lord Hope Building, on the University of Strathclyde John Anderson campus.

The current Law Clinic Director is the founder, Professor Donald Nicolson.
